See's® Milk Chocolate Bordeaux(tm): My Favorite for 50 Years!

While I can't attest to the particular box the first reviewer received, I feel compelled to speak on the behalf of an old companion, See's® Chocolate Bordeaux. Some 50 years ago I was fortunate to select a milk chocolate from a box of assorted See's® chocolates. Attracted by the tiny chocolate sprinkles which covered the piece I was drawn to, I chose it and bit into a a succulent creamy-center, which I would now describe as pure ambrosia. If this chocolate were a claret it would be a vintage "Château Mouton Rothschild," were a landscape it would by Cézanne, and if a novel it would be by Hemingway. With its two varieties of milk and dark chocolate it should appeal to any chocoholic. Quite simply, it's the best of the best, and I would recommend it without reservation to all.

I like See's chocolate because it tastes like chocolate, unlike so many other reasonably priced chocolate candy. I like the fact that you get a quality taste for a reasonable price. The chocolate tastes like a hearty real chocolate (instead of a sugar bite) and the caramel and marshmallow are the perfect compliment to just the right amount of chocolate. I find that one or two at the most are a great treat for some one who is watching their weight but is craving a good tasting chocolate. Rich tasting and satisfying.P.S. The only caveat I have is that when you order in the summer you pay additional charges due to the heat. I think there are locations that sell See's candies though.P.P.S. Their lolly pops are great!

Best Belgian Chocolates I have had

Obviously pricey outside of Belgium (or Europe for that matter) however the quality is unmatched. I bought these for my wife on Easter instead of the traditional (and dare I say highly repetitive) chocolate box brand. First, the milk chocolate is obviously of higher quality and retains its creamy taste even if regrigerated. The fillings and cremes are superb. The only problem I have now is that my wife wants them on every insignificant occasion now!

Wonderful Chocolates

Leonidas is a wonderful brand of chocolate and previously hard to get in the US if you didn't have a friend flying to Belgium every week. I found these on Amazon and now my daughter thinks I'm the best mom. They are made without preservatives so they need to be well cared for and not kept around too long. That is not a problem since they taste as great as they do. This package offers a variety of flavors and types to try as well. We really enjoyed having it around. Too bad it didn't last very long before it was gone.

I just wish there were more than 5 stars because i am totally addicted to these now. There's something in them that does what no other candy or even medications can do -moisten my dry mouth that I have from medications I am on. I suck on a couple of those and my mouth is moistened enough that I can go with just drinking water, oj, or whatever before I gotta eat a couple more.This stuff rocks - if I could afford it, I'd buy a whole year's worth!! But it's probably a good thing it's not available because I'd gain 100lbs just from eating them!! Wonderful product. I try to tell people around me not to eat them so there's more for me :) But then I relent and tell them just how good they really are.

Way Too Sweet

Russell Stover candies were always good, you could count on them to be fresh and tasty at a reasonable price. I don't know what they've done to them but over the past 5 years or so, they changed a lot. My mom and I always used to buy a box at holidays and special occasions, or any day that we wanted a piece of chocolate candy. We stopped buying them a few years ago when we noticed the decline in quality. They became much too sweet. The texture also changed. The buttercreams were my favorites, and they went from being creamy, smooth and delicious to thick and grainy.I asked my family not to get me any chocolates like this for Valentine's Day this year, but my brother forgot and bought a box each for me and for my mom. I gave it another chance, and, unsurprisingly they were bad. They are like hard lumps of sugar, with softer sugar fillings. I like sweets, but these are so sweet that I couldn't eat more than two pieces. They don't even have the same great flavor they used to have. I tried the buttercreams and of course they were disappointing. The vanilla buttercream had little tough bits in it that had the texture of coconut, which is strange. Years ago, it was smooth and fluffy. One of my relatives came over to visit and tried a couple of pieces. One was so sweet that she started coughing and had to take a sip of coffee.If you remember Russell Stover of years ago and are expecting the same, you will be disappointed. If you want real chocolate candies, try a local chocolatier or some brand that makes better quality candies. It is hard to find nowadays as most mass marketed chocolates are using cheap ingredients. They are not worth eating given how bad they are for you, they don't taste good enough to justify eating them. Sad to see another company go downhill.

They charge between $20-$30 for this box of chocolates, but it turns out to be the same one you get from the drug store for $9.99. It even comes labelled $9.99. Don't let them take you like they took me; unless you are extremely lazy, go buy this at the store!

GREAT SERVICE

UPDATE 1/19/2012: Sees took care of replacing the product and was beyond courteous. I will be back. Thanks.Box arrived a day late despite expensive "two day shipping". Most of the clusters were peanuts and not almonds or walnuts. The rest was good but only tasted semi fresh and cheap shot with so many peanuts. I recall when Sees never sold peanut clusters.

I never used to like nuts and chews before I tried Sees; now they are my favorite. You really get a mouthful with Sees, and there's nothing particularly "fine" about them, just good dark chocolate (the "American" version) in this particular mix. In another review for Sees I mentioned that the first time I ever had a See's chocolate I exclaimed "This is like eating FOOD". What I meant was, you get something substantial to chew on, not just a mouthful of sweetness and goo. They are hefty, beefy, and not treacly. I consider them the very high end of your basic all-around chocolate assortment.I have also special-ordered customized assortments from their website, and I can attest to their really good shipping and delivery methods. No melting, and every perfect little gem in its place - until I can get my hands on 'em.

The initial order arrived completely melted to a Florida address. I asked via email that they call me or send out a new box immediately before Christmas and not after. See's did not notify me either way; however, they did send a new box with cold packs to my friend in Florida within 2 days.
